Gskyer telescope4/11/2023 This is a PushTo system that uses your smartphone as the computer and graphical interface. This is a floor standing scope that is very stable and very easy to use. Includes 2 eyepieces, 2X barlow, Planisphere, Moon map, beginner observers guide and red flashlight. Popular 6” Dobsonian scope package with useful accessories beyond what is part of the standard scope. Note the last two include computer assistance finding things. I own the Explore Scientific Twilight 1 version of this mount.Īlternate Scopes for your consideration at a bit higher price. Similar to the Porta 2 mentioned earlier. If you have the opportunity to return it and put a little more money into a scope that has a mount with slow motion controls, that might be a better economic choice.Ī new mount will cost about $200. What you describe I'd call slow motion controls. I have better eyepieces so these don't get used. The three eyepieces that came with it work reasonably well but lacked eyecups to help keep out stray light. I replaced the 45 degree diagonal with a 90 degree star diagonal. Not my favorite scope, but it gets used from time to time. Have fun, find a club and you will get some guidance and maybe a personal mentor to point you in the best direction. ORION and vicinity ( orion nebulae, flame and horse head) lots more, but a good start. The Andromeda galaxy 2 The Pleiades, seven sisters - Subaru (look at the Japanese car logo). Right now some fall/winter parts of the sky to view. Select a few objects of interest and go find them. The key thing is to make a plan for your nights viewing based upon date and time of viewing. But it is convenient - though you won't learn the relative positions between objects of interest quite as well as as the "sky hopping " method. I am simplifying the setup a bit as you need to due a Polar alignment of the mount head and enter data such as time date latitude and longitude and do a "star alignment " procedure to get it going. More advanced tracking mounts will have a goto object database and with proper setup can just go to the object. Both types of mount heads can be motorized to track a fixed point in the sky. GEM mounts tilt/place one rotational axis parallel to the Earth's rotational axis - thus only one axis has to move to keep the selected object in the view as the earth is rotating. In relation to the mount head there are basically two kinds - the alt/az, which is up/down (altitude), left/right (azimuth) or GEM (German Equatorial mount). This method also gives you an education on how things are distributed around the celestial globe. To get the most out of this setup and find your way around the sky the addition of a "Telrad" aiming finder and a Telrad specific guide book (series of 4 books, but start with the Messier Objects) will get you going by sky hopping method to find objects of interest. The push to control arm is basic and lends itself to low power sky crusing. It is mounted on a simple altitude/azimuth mount. As an Achromat it may show some spurious color on bright objects at poweres above 50X or so. The Gshyer 90mm refractor is an entry level scope most suited for wide viewing using the longer eyepiece (25mm or so).
